Edmund Tan,
A Shooting Star?

"A Shooting Star is a candlestick (white/black) that has a small body, a long upper shadow, and a little or no lower shadow. This pattern suggests a minor reversal when it appears after a rally. The star's body must appear near the low price and the line should have a long upper shadow." - Steven B. Achelis, Technical Analysis from A to Z.

Is today's closing candle a Shooting Star?

A Shooting Star is a type of candlestick formation that results when a security's price, at some point during the day, advances well above the opening price but closes lower than the opening price.

In order for a candlestick to be considered a shooting star, the formation must be on an upward or bullish trend. Furthermore, the distance between the highest price for the day and the opening price must be more than twice as large as the shooting star's body. Finally, the distance between the lowest price for the day and the closing price must be very small or nonexistent. (Investopedia)

Strictly speaking, the candle in question is not a Shooting Star.

Be smart, learn to distinguish between a sheep and a goat.

so are u suggest that it is a risk worth taking. it is not an exact pattern of shotting star, but similar to that, a long upper shadow does shown resistance. Father Ben, sometimes we do not have to follow the exact term from the book, i notice that many of your posting come from the technical and fundamental analysis i read before.

I hope you can be more original in giving your comment. By the way, I do hope that you listen to my advise and save your money for your retirement instead of gambling it all away. This war is not for you, you have seeen to many winter liao. Let the young people fight!

Hi Edmund,
The way you discuss, you are like the politicians using fallacies (through diversion) to make their points. This will not lead to logical thinking.
It will encourage faulty thinking and lead to the wrong conclusion on a subject matter.
Whoever is wrong or right is not so important but we must get the correct facts that will help us to make a better conclusion and decision.
Most problems arise because a person does not wish to admit his error, mainly due to ego/self interest. This normally leads to a bigger problem. However, if a problem is noted and admitted, rectification can be carried out and the problem/error can be solved and there will then be progress.
No hard feelings.

Cheers

Jeff,

Ben's good advice:

"Let your profits run. Best to use a trailing stop-loss."

Its taxiing now, while waiting for control tower's greenlight, ready to take off again just like it does everyday in real life. Watch for confirmation.

wow!
quite a BIG risk taker. let me sing, "Airasia is falling down, falling down, falling down".
To whoever plan to enter an open trade with Airasia now, please be dicipline with your stop loss, exit.
HUGE RISK, HUGE RETURN. But without dicipline, it becomes HUGE RISK, HUGE LOSS.
