To be unable to see the wood for the trees

means to be unable to get a clear view of the whole because of too many details.

If you put in too many indicators in your chart you won't be able to see the wood for the trees.

A miss is as good as a mile.

When you failed to succeed, it means you failed to succeed. Whether the margin of failure is small or big, the result is still the same.

Forbidden fruit is the sweetest.

What you are not supposed to have is most desirable.

This proverb orginated from the Christian bible. Adam and Eve ate the "Forbidden Fruit" which tasted very sweet. They were then banished from the Garden of Eden.
