Tipsters are engaged by bookmakers to make money for them. They are there to mislead you. Therefore, when you read an article which makes you feel that a certain team is certain to win, you will do well to remember to bet on the opposing team. Having said that, please also remember that in betting, nothing is certain and the banker always has the advantage. That is why Genting makes so much money year after year.
What about the stock market? Do company owners sometimes engaged analysts to perform similar acts akin to that of the tipsters?

Yes, I think company owners DO ENGAGE analysts to write good stuff about them, so they can secretly distribute their shares.
Let's ask miniBuffett if public listed company actually engage them to write beautiful reports :D
miniBuffett, are you there?
